Prince Alexis Obolensky “The Father of Modern Backgammon”
Organised the first international tournament and founded the World Backgammon Club.
Often called the Father of Modern Backgammon, Obolensky organised the first international tournament in the Bahamas in 1964 (the Obolensky Cup) and founded the World Backgammon Club in 1967, doing more than anyone to launch the game's 1970s boom. He was inducted into the Backgammon Hall of Fame in 2018.
